Limited Edition Posters

When major acts in the United States and Europe commence a tour, they often commission a well known graphic artist to produce a poster for them. This has been a tradition now since the days of the Fillmore in the 1970's.

Print editions are usually in runs of 100 to 750 posters with around 300 or 400 being the most common. Some of the posters are used to promote the gig, some are given away to promoters, staff and friends and others are signed and numbered, forming the editions that we are interested in.

These works have a long tradition in the US and Europe and many of the artists are well known for their styles. There are regularly shows which promote the work of an artist or group of artists . Posters are usually but not always, produced on heavy stock and always employ quality printing techniques. They may be lithographs, offsets or screenprints.

Putting a value on posters has its complications. Big works cost more than small works, screenprints cost more than offsets but it is not quite that simple. If a band is popular or an image is particularly loved it will sell out quickly, meaning that the print will cost more and more, as the edition disappears. The price I pay, and therefore sell at, will be a combination of the above mentioned factors. If you want to keep it simple then buy posters you like. That way you can never go wrong.

Please feel free to email me if there are any bands whose posters you would be interested in, but which are not shown on the site. I have a large stock of posters and have a good idea of what is available worldwide. If I don't have it, I can often order it in.
